After the approval of the ‘Disaster Management Act 2012 in November 2012, the ‘Directorate of Disaster Management (DDM)’ was established under the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief. The Directorate of Relief and Rehabilitation created in 1973 and the Disaster Management Bureau (DMB) created in 1992 were abolished and transformed into the Directorate of Disaster Management.
